It is free to open an account with Currencies Direct and you will be able to trade currencies within hours.  The exchange rate you receive will be excellent and will be guaranteed to be within 0.2% and 1% of the interbank spot rate.
 
As with any good foreign exchange service you will need to fully verify your ID to open an account.  Non-UK residents may need to undergo additional identification documents in order to qualify.
